Rules and Guide lines:

  • Each student can ONLY be part of ONE team. However ONE team can participate with more than ONE bot.
  • A team can have 3-6 members.
  • No computer system will be provided; teams are required to bring their own laptops.
  • Your Line follower robot will be disqualified if it damages the track in any way.
  • A single robot cannot be used by two teams.
  • Same robot must be used by the team for all official rounds.
  • Participants are not allowed to keep anything inside the arena other than the machine.
  • Any member of a team found indulging in un-acceptable behaviour will attract disqualification for the entire team.
  • There are no restrictions on the types of sensors the participants can use, however the robot must be completely autonomous and clearly follow the line.
  • The participants are requested not to assume anything without discussing with the event coordinators.
  • Decisions of the judges/coordinators are final.
  • Judges/Coordinators hold the right to change the rules and guidelines without prior notification.

The event will consist of only one round.

Arena specification:

  • The base of the arena is made up of white coloured flex sheet with a black coloured Track printed on it.
  • The dimensions of the track will be around 4m * 2m.
  • The track may consist of simple curves, and L-sections.
  • There will be five Restart checkpoints. (Time will not be paused during restart)
  • Width of the line will be 3cms.
  • Each team will be given 2 official attempts.
  • Each official attempt will be timed. (I.e. the time taken will considered in the final score)
  • The best of the 2 official attempts will be considered.
  • Re-entry is permitted

Robot specifications:

  • The robot should fit inside a cube of side 25 cm in all directions.
  • Robot should be completely autonomous.
  • The bot should be strictly internally powered.

Gameplay:

  • Participants must traverse the track and reach the finish line after which it has to find its way back to the start line.
  • Additional points will be awarded for avoiding the wrong turns while coming back to the starting position. However if the bot takes a wrong turn while returning, points will be deducted.
  • The task ends, if the bot returns back to the starting strip or the time allotted for your official attempt runs out. In both cases, the total accumulated points (which were obtained by reaching each checkpoint, avoiding wrong turns or coming back to the starting point) will be taken.

Point system:


Time remaining in seconds from the allotted time will be considered along with the following:

During the journey to the finish line:

  • 50 points will be awarded for successfully completing each section.

While returning back to the start line:

  • If the bot manages to avoid wrong turn 50 points will be awarded.
  • 30 points will be deducted for every wrong turn. However 40 points will be awarded for returning to the correct path
  • 50 bonus points will be given for any team that completes the return journey without taking a single wrong turn.

The team with the highest score wins.

Winning prizes:

  • Cash prize- Rs. 10000/-.
  • Certificates will be provided to the winners only.
